The Junior Chamber International Lipa recently concluded their celebration of the JCI Week. The event comprised of projects that aim to promote the organization to the community, and to initiate programs that are guided by the 6 tenets of the JCI Values; all geared towards the development of JCI members and their immediate community.
The 7-day event launched on May 12, kicked-off with a motorcade around the city, followed by thanksgiving mass and a “salu-salo” lunch with JCI Lipa members. On the same day, the Chapter’s adopted community in Hillview, Antipolo del Sur, also witnessed the groundbreaking of their soon-to-be day care center and playground.
On the second day, a courtesy call to the office of the city mayor was done with the purpose of strengthening the Chapter’s partnership with the local government. Day three was focused on the environment and featured different seminars and talks related to environmental sustainability and member’s development. One of the highlights of the day is the launching of the new project: It’s All About SALT (Sustainable Alternative Lighting).
The annual Beyond Prison Walls project was held on the fourth day in the Lipa City Jail. And on the fifth day, a joint meeting with JCI groups from Batangas, Tanauan and San Pablo culminated with a sport fest.
With an effort to help the local government in reducing unemployment, JCI-Lipa invitedemployers from different sectors to their Job Fair entitled JOBapalooza 2015; held on May 17, 2015 at Robinsons Place-Lipa.
Day seven was spent in Bulacnin Elementary School, and together with the assistance from volunteers, doctors and nurses, barangay officials and policemen, JCI-Lipa held Go For Health, Go For Positive Change, a Medical/Dental Mission.
Capping the weeklong celebration, JCI Lipa launched Aquaholics, an awarding and fellowship event to recognize the efforts of members for a job well done week of fruitful projects for the organization and the community. The celebration was held in Dante’s Place, Mataas na Kahoy.
JCI, which started on 1947, is a worldwide federation of young professionals and entrepreneurs between ages 18 and 40. JCI’s mission is to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.
